Victorian Black Brocade
Vintage Gown/Cream Accents
The material is beautiful on this antique gown. It is a bodice and
skirt
dating to the late 1890's. The bodice is very fitted with a rounded
neckline and a center front hook/eye closure. The bodice is lined in
a light blue cotton material with a very small design and is boned.
The back of the bodice has a wide waistband with horizontal pleating.
This waistband continues around to the front and has a side hook/eye
closure. Pleats fan out from the waistband towards the neckline,
giving fullness to the shoulders. Attached to the front portion of
the waistband is a wonderful cream collar with goldtone trim swirling
throughout. This collar consists of three vertical strips of
material on each side. It is only attached at the waistband and
flips over the neckline to wrap around the back. I'm not sure if
this was added later, or never finished, but it does need to be
attached is a more secure manner and the upper edges are raw. I'm
not sure how it goes, but I'm sure an experienced seamstress or
clothing collector would be able to put it in shape. The sleeves are
slightly puffed at the shoulders and straight to a wide cuff of
matching cream material. The cuff is also decorated with the gold
trim. The skirt has a center back hook/eye closure and is slightly
gathered. It is fully lined in black polished cotton and has a
velvet hem protector and stiff ruffle which is sewn to the
underlining. Both pieces of this vintage gown are in very good
condition. The material is sturdy and the gown is wearable; however
it is a very small size.
I have it displayed on my size 0 dress form which measures:
bustline=30"; waistline=21". The skirt waistline is larger and has
been taken in. It currently measures approximately 23".

1890's Silk Victorian Mourning
Outfit
If you want one Mourning piece to upgrade your collection, or want
to begin your new Mourning collection with a premiere fashion
statement of Victorian fashion, than this is the vintage outfit for
you! A
petite size, the outfit is astounding in its mariad of beading and
has lasted well over the 100 years since it was constructed. The
bodice has the slightly puffed sleeves of the Victorian period, as
well as the mirrored V on both sides of the bodice. This outfit
almost defines the 1890s, as it has most of the common
characteristics of the era: A seperate skirt and bodice, the bodice
is lined and boned on the seams, the bodie fastens in the front and
under the left shoulder with two layers of material (one interior
muslin, the other is the outer layer of silk), the skirt is plain and
slightly fitted through the hips and the sleeves are full and mounted
on a lining that tightly fits the arms. In addition, this wonderful
outfit has a few surprises: a rauched bodice, beaded collar and
sleeves, 12" beaded trim on the bodice, and three gorgeous beaded
embellishments on the skirt. The pleating on the back of the skirt
is to perfect to not notice in its own right. This outfit is in
excellent condition, with only a few minor problems to be expected of
a 110 year old outfit! There is a tiny mark less than 1/8" on one
sleeve, 1 interior hook has slightly ripped out from the muslin, and
there is a 1" tear near the back waist hook-all easily repaired with
just a couple minutes of whipstiching. As with all older pieces, the
thread on the heavy beading is becoming fragile and should be checked
and re-threaded where necessary.
Measurements:
Bodice: 13" neck; 14" shoulder to shoulder, 22" sleeve, 20" neck to
bodice waist, 24" waist, 12" long beaded trim. Skirt: 23" waist, 40"
length.

C. 1890's - 1900's Wedding
Bodice
This wedding bodice is beautiful. The material is a tussue silk and
is as light as butterfly wings - just beautiful! The bodice has a
high neckline with a large ruffle through the bodice - both front and
back. Large material bows decorate each shoulder with another large
bow decorating the center back of the collar. The sleeves are
wonderful - huge and billowing - again, they remind me of a
butterfly! The bodice is fitted and fully lined with 13 bones (see
Lining/Petersham Views). The
information printed on the petersham is not fully legible, but I can
make out "Detroit Michigan" (see Lining/Petersham Views). The bodice is in
good condition, but it does have some spotting which I have not tried
to clean. The silk may have a few small tears, but is in very good
condition considering the delicate nature of this material.

LARGER SIZE!!! Circa 1900's
Black Lace/Beaded Vintage Gown
This lovely black Edwardian gown is a beautiful combination of black
lace and black beading. The vintage gown has a small front "V"
neckline
which is edged with a very narrow light blue velvet. An attached
black lace "shawl" creates a deeper "V" panel which is decorated with
black beading. The "shawl" begins at waistline (front and back)
and encircles shoulders. The "shawl" is beautifully accented with
black beaded fringe. The fringe is attached to one side of Shawl
and follows scalloped edging of lace. This creates a very
dramatic look. The gown is completely lined, however there are a few
areas where underlining is split - remainder is fine. There
are four (4) bones in bodice - one on each side and two in
front. The gown has 3/4 length sleeves which are gathered into a
satin beaded banding. The gown has an attached wide black satin belt
and a center back hook/eye closure. The skirt features an
asymmetrical lace hemline and is decorated on one side (more towards
back side) with a beaded decorative tassel. This vintage gown is in
very
good condition and lace is beautiful - I believe it is Chantilly
lace. The lace has a few breaks and as previously mentioned, there
are a few areas of splitting in underlining, but other than that,
gown is sturdy. The gown may have been altered a bit, but if so,
it was done very well. The gown is also in a larger size and with a
bit of reinforcement, could be worn. Unfortunately, my photos do not
capture true beauty of lace and beading. The gown measures
approximately: bustline=38"; shoulder to shoulder width=14 1/2";
waistline=29" and length (shoulder to hemline)=57".

1900's Vintage White Net
Waist
This is just a wonderful early vintage blouse! The entire blouse is
done in
a net material and would need to be worn over a camisole or slip.
The waist has a three-layer, stand-up collar with one layer becoming
a large square collar in the back. The blouse has a ruffled center
front button closure with clear, round glass buttons. Horizontal
ruching is sandwiched between the center closure ruffle and another
vertical row of ruffles in the front. The sleeves are long and
fairly fitted. They end in ruffled cuffs. The cuffs have snap
closures. The blouse is very small, expecially the waistline. It
measures approximately: bustline=30"; shoulder to shoulder width=12
1/2", waistline=22" and length (center back neck to hemline)=16".
The waist is in very good condition, but does have a few small pin
holes. As you can see from the photos, this waist would make a
beautiful display piece.

C. 1915 White
Waist
This lovely vintage white cotton waist is the perfect companion for
your
vintage walking suit or skirt. The waist has a sailor style collar
which is squared off in the back. The collar is edged with a floral
trim followed by narrow white lace. The blouse has a center front
button closure with mother-of-pearl buttons (one button is missing).
Vertical pin pleats begin at the shoulders and continue down the
entire front of the waist. The back is also decorated with pin
pleats; however, these are grouped into four (4) "stripes". The
sleeves are long and full. The cuff is also decorated with floral
trim and white lace. The waist is in very good condition. There may
be a few small pin holes, but other than that and the missing button,
the blouse is ready to go. The blouse measures approximately:
bustline=36"; shoulder to shoulder=15" and length (center back
neckline to hemline)=19"

C. 1900's Black
Vintage Gown
This simple black vintage gown may have been worn during a mourning
period.
The gown has a high neckline which is done in black net. This net
continues through a front and back yoke. The yoke is larger in the
front than the back, but both are shaped in a "V". The remaining
portion of the bodice is vertically pleated which adds extra room to
the bust. The dress has 3/4 length sleeves and a center back
hook/eye closure. The dress looks like it has been altered, but it
is in wearable condition. The bodice has four (4) bones and is
unlined. The skirt begins at the natural waistline and has four (4)
vertical pleats which begin approximately at the knees. The
waistband, as well as the neckline and sleeves, are decorated with a
"blanket stitching". This vintage dress is in very good condition,
but there
is a small hole in the net, by the back closure.

Circa 1900 Vintage Silk
Waist
Lovely cream colored vintage silk shirtwaist. The waist has a stand-
up
collar and center front closure. The closure is trimmed with a
dainty lace trim. The entire waist is constructed with vertical pin
pleats, with the front falling straight and the back gathered at
the waistline. The sleeves are long and gathered at the lower end.
The sleeves are lined and a layer of lace extends from the lower
portion
of the sleeve - giving the appearance of an under sleeve. The sleeve
detailing is much nicer than the photos show. An under bodice of
cotton also has a front hook/eye closure. Originally,
the under bodice had three (3) bones (one on each side and one in
the center back), but all have been removed. A petersham encircles
the waistline and also closes with a hook/eye closure. The
shirtwaist is
in very good condition, but it does have a few light spots (I do not
know if they can be removed) and a few areas that have thinned a bit.
The material is lovely with a delicate overall color-on-color floral
design. The waist measures approximately: bustline=32"; shoulder to
shoulder=12"; waist=24"; length (center back neck to waistline)=14"
and overall length (center back neck to hemline)=18 1/2".
